Chemo #9

It's Wednesday and that means I'm back in the infusion room.  Turns out chemo is repetitive and there's not a whole lot to say about it.  So let's see, what else have I been up to?

On Friday, four of my high school friends from Maryland surprised me by showing up on my doorstep.  Jeff and my parents were in on it, but I'm still impressed they were able to pull it off.  I've never been one of those girls who has big dramatic reactions with tears and high-pitched screaming.  I think I just said, "Oh my God, hi! ...  So, should we go get tacos?"  That's me at my most excited.

Instead of driving my kids around to softball and playdates and preschool gymnastics, I got to go out and have grown-up fun all weekend.  I even had my first alcoholic drink since January.  (Once it hits your lips, it's so good!)  I swear there's nothing more therapeutic than hanging out with old friends.

This week, the fun continued with my annual skin cancer screening.  At this point, having my body checked for cancer is a favorite pastime of mine.  I showed my dermatologist how my big toenails are turning purple, and she said, "Huh."

My toenails may fall off, but at least sparkling water no longer burns my mouth and I'm back on my regular toothpaste.  Best of all, I can eat spicy food again.  Hallelujah!  Bring on the hot sauce and the Sriracha!  I'm going to buy myself an Easter basket full of Hot Tamales and atomic fireballs to celebrate.
